One thing that’s been on my Chicago bucket list for awhile has been visiting the Lyric Opera house. For Valentine’s Day, we finally went. First, it was so much fun getting dolled up and hitting the town with my love. The opera itself though was very interesting. We saw Elektra, a story about a princess whose father was murdered by her mother and she’s hell-bent on revenge. It wasn’t quite what we were expecting from a Valentine’s Day show. Nevertheless, we had such a great time!
One of the best parts of going to the opera was getting a chance to wear a fancy dress. Since I didn’t have any formal gowns in my closet, I rented my dress from Rent the Runway and the experience was so simple. You can order any rental through their website and have it delivered straight to your house. I procrastinated and waited until the day before to rent mine, so I went to the store they have in Chicago. They had a lot of selections and the stylists could not have been nicer. I tried on a few options but ultimately landed on the LIKELY Red Teigan Gown, which was only $45 to rent. I, of course, needed some good accessories to go with the gown. They found me these beautiful Dannijo Crystal Earrings and Sondra Roberts Pewter Beaded Clutch. All together everything was less than $100 to rent. It was so easy and I will definitely use RTR again in the future.
